Three persons have been killed and seven others are feared trapped in a bridge collapse in Indias northeastern Sik-kim state.

The bridge at Rang-chang Khola between Kokaley and Tumin gave away early Monday under a 48-trailer truck. Rescue operations have been slow due to difficult terrain and darkness. The vehicle belonging to Teesta Urja Limited was carrying heavy machines for the companys hydropower project from Sili-guri to North Sik-kim.
